Hey there and welcome to Lavender Light Studios!

I’m Suz, from deep in the heart of West Texas. I have had a burning passion for photography since I was 19 years old. I started shooting at Vans Warped Tour in 2014 and have been building on that foundation ever since. With a few short hiatuses along the way, I have done everything from head shots to weddings, sports to concerts and spent the last twelve years learning how to tell stories through my lens.

So what about my queer journey?

Well let me tell you a little bit - I came out as bisexual when I was 23 years old, already married to a man, and knowing there was more of myself I hadn’t shared with the world. But even then, “bisexual” didn’t feel fully true to myself. Even my family struggled to understand.

“Why can’t you just pick one?” They asked.

And at 25, I did one of the hardest things I’ve ever done - I came out to my husband as a lesbian. I loved him deeply. I truly believed he was the person I would grow old with. But some loves are meant to shape you, not stay. We weren’t meant to finish this life side by side - even if I like to believe maybe we do in another one.

So call me a late bloomer, but the past five years have felt like a decade. I’ve grown. I’ve loved. I’ve lost. I’ve rebuilt.

My purpose is to create space for stories like yours - stories that don’t always get the spotlight. Whether you’re loud in your identity or still quietly becoming, your story deserves to be seen, held and honored.
